About the Music Education Grant
One of the purposes stated by the founders of Sigma Alpha Iota was to further music in our communities. In pursuance ofthis goal, the Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae Chapter has decided to offer a yearly grant of up to $500 to either elementary schools or middle schools for special music projects or local community organizations with a not-for-profit or non-profit status. NOTE: The 2007-2008 school year found us devoid of ANY APPLICATIONS, therefore we had to improvise.

These projects can include, but are not limited to:

  • instrument purchase
  • special musical events
  • music acquisition
  • music-related field trips
  • visiting music clinicians
  • guest musical artists

The grant rotates each year between schools in the Broward County and Palm Beach County areas. For a list of previous year's awards, please see the table above.
